Homework at HLA-N

• For 1st-4th graders, on Mondays, your child’s teacher will send home a homework packet for the week. (Kindergarteners do not receive a weekly homework packet. If the kindergarten teacher sends home any fun activities, they will communicate that with you and your child.)
• This homework packet reviews what your child has already learned in school. 
• Homework is an opportunity for your child to practice what they are learning at school. It is also one way for you to see what your child is working on and for you to support and celebrate them.
• If your child does not understand something or you are not able to support your child with their homework, that’s okay! Please have them complete what they can. Homework completion is not a part of your child’s grade.
• Reading with your child (or having them read to you) in any language is a great habit to foster love for reading. Talking to your child about their day, listening to them, and telling them stories about your day also adds to their skills development.
• At the end of each week, your child’s teacher will collect the homework in class.

• Para los grados de 1ro- 4to, el lunes el maestro o la maestra de su hijo(a) le enviara a casa un
  paquete de tarea para la semana. (Los estudiantes del Kínder no recibirán paquetes de tarea
  semanales. Si un maestro o maestra de kínder envía a casa alguna actividad divertida, ellos le
  comunicaran de esto con usted o su hijo).
• Este paquete de tarea repasara lo que su hijo(a) ya ha aprendido en la escuela.
• La tarea es una oportunidad para su hijo(a) de que practique lo que están aprendiendo en la
  escuela. Esta también es una manera de que vea lo que su hijo(a) está trabajando y para que
  usted le apoye y le celebre.
• Si su hijo(a) no entiende algo o usted no puede apoyar a su hijo(a) con la tarea, ¡está bien! Por
  favor aun así haga que completen lo que puedan hacer. El que completen la tarea no será parte
  de la calificación de su hijo(a).
• El leer con su hijo(a) (o que él o ella le lea a usted) en cualquier idioma es un gran habito para
  crecer el amor por la lectura. El hablar con su hijo(a) sobre el día, o escucharlos, y contarles
  historias sobre su día también les suma a sus habilidades del desarrollo.
• Al final de cada semana, el maestro o maestra de su hijo(a) recolectara la tarea en la clase.
