Family Academy Event: Substance Use Explained

Please join us in this educational workshop for parents to improve awareness of the origin of drug use as well as early detection and prevention.

• What are the risks? 
• What should I look for? 
• What should I do if I think my child is using drugs?

We will talk about relevant, up-to-date information on the most commonly used substances among youth, like alcohol, cannabis, and other substances.

We will offer strategies for parents to have open conversations with their children about drug and alcohol misuse.

Promote ways parents can help children make positive, healthy choices

~There will be an opportunity to ask questions and find out where to go for more information and support~
 
This workshop is being facilitated by David Romanowsky, MA, LADC, a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor from Mexico, who works with people struggling with problematic substance use and other mental health conditions. He will be talking about key topics around problematic substance use, including adverse childhood experiences, understanding family dynamics, and protective and risk factors.

Promover formas en que los padres pueden ayudar a los niños a tomar decisiones positivas y saludables.

Este taller será impartido por David Romanowsky, MA, LADC. El es un Consejero Licenciado en Alcohol y Drogas de México, que trabaja con personas que luchan con el uso problemático de sustancias y otras condiciones de salud mental. Hablará sobre temas clave relacionados con el uso problemático de sustancias, incluidas las experiencias adversas de la infancia, dinámica familiar, factores de riesgo y factores protectores.
